Thinking back of the year that I been slacking off, decisions of either slow down the pace of eating ramen due to health concerns and also the lack of new places in the bay area deterred me from my journey. It was childish to put aside dreams completely.
Thanks my business trip + friend's birthday down in LA, couple friends and I went into Tsujita LA and Tsujita Annex.
Guess which one is which~. (laugh).
Both places reminded me of places in Japan I used to go to. The seafood porkbone bonito heavy flavor completely complements chewy but not unbreakable yellow round egg noodle. First taste fills with a full bonito smell and taste.
Annex features more “二郎”ish ramen soup with porkbone shoyu flavor. The egg noodle is more flat but can suck more soup into the noodle. One of the obvious difference is the saltiness of this bowl and also the heavy porkbone flavor. Bean sprout and string green onion are one of the bright spots for me.
Ambiance of both stores are similar with Annex with better lighting and bar like area. Personally I do put the original store on top of my list of tsukemen! Time to get another bowl!
